About the Author

Charlotte Hains left the UK for France after deciding she needed a change, taking on the huge project of renovating a house. In the UK her life consisted of getting up, going to work, coming home, going to bed, and just surviving. She now enjoys French life within the community of the village in which she lives, and feels privileged to be part of it. She describes her French neighbours as fantastic, offering her help in every way they can, and says she might have given up long ago if they hadn’t been so understanding.

With her house nearly finished she found herself with long nights and lots of thumb twiddling, reading anything she could get on her iPad. In honesty, she admits it was here that Fifty Shades of Grey caught her eye. Unbeknownst to her, her sister was reading it as well. Her sister thought that, because Charlotte has such a creative side, maybe she’d be able to write a book too. As a joke, Charlotte emailed her sister her stories, also written on her iPad. She researched blogs and BDSM sites on the internet, and so Introducing Charlotte came alive. Before she knew it, Charlotte had over 150,000 words which she’d sent by email in instalments to her sister, and there was more than enough for a book…or maybe even two!

My Review

Erotica isn’t my thing, which isn’t to say I don’t like it! I usually read chick-lit and after a brief soujourn into the land of Fifty Shades, I returned to my usual habits.  So I was more than happy to read this book as a change!

Introducing Charlotte is a book with variety, it has interesting characters, with interesting lives and it definitely keeps you reading.  What was refreshing, for an erotica amateur like me, was how Chrolitte Hains took the time to explain more of the psychological side of a Dom/Sub relationship. Something that was definitely lacking form those other books (now a Major a Motion Picture)

It’s definitely a great set up for a series, I look forward to any sequels!

IMG_1183.PNG

Hello! I’m back again with another review. As always I count myself lucky to be included in blog tours arranged by the fabulous JB at Brooks Cottage Books and this time was no different.

So before I tell you what I thought of Third Time Lucky, here’s a little something about the book and its author Pippa Croft!!

About Third Time Lucky:

IMG_1182.JPG

For fans of Sylvia Day and E. L. James, the third and final part of this exciting romance series.
‘It’s Sister Dixon from the Royal Infirmary here. I’m sorry to tell you that Captain Hunt has been involved a serious incident.’
Lauren Cusack should be on her way home for an holiday in Washington before her final term at Wyckham College, Oxford. But this call changes everything. Her relationship with impossibly handsome aristocrat Alexander Hunt has been turbulent and Lauren knows she needs to walk away. Yet now as she rushes to his side she knows she will be inevitably sucked back into his world.
And sure enough, Alexander – even a seriously injured Alexander – is an intoxicating cocktail Lauren cannot resist and despite everything that is sent to thwart them – and with Alexander there is drama at every turn – she finds herself happier than she’s ever been.
But as her final term races by, and she is offered the perfect job back in Washington, the impossibility of their romance hits home.
Can there be a future for Alexander and Lauren?
The love trials of Lauren and Alexander continue in the third book in Pippa Croft’s brilliant new Oxford Blue romance series.
Fans of E L James, Tammara Webber and Samantha Young won’t be able to get enough of Pippa Croft’s Oxford Blue romance series. Lauren and Alexander’s journey begins in The First Time We Met, and follows on in the brilliant sequel, The Second Time I Saw You, which are both available as Penguin ebooks.

Unfortunately for me, I’ve not been able to read the first books in the series (soon to be rectified) but the first thing about Third Time Lucky is that I’d really doesn’t matter Pippa has written such an enticing story that even though I’d always recommend reading a series in the correct order, this time I was lucky! . Not knowing Lauren and Alexander at all, made it all the more intriguing, their relationship is hot and heavy, as well as icy and distant at times. This book has everything from sex scenes steamy enough to fog windows to blackmail plots, with Pimms and Boat Races thrown in for good measure. Lauren is a likeable heroine and Alexander a dashing hero. Who doesn’t love a man in uniform? Or out of uniform as the case may be!

I won’t lie, it’s not my usual reading material, but having read Fifty Shades during all the hype, I found the hot and romantic scenes far more realistic and believable. Third Time Lucky has the frequency and steamy sex scenes of Fifty Shades, but beats it with likeable characters, no annoying inner goddess and far more heart.

If you like your novels to be scintillating sexy page turners, then I definitely recommend Third Time Lucky for you! But do yourself a favour and read the whole series, if book three was this good, how good are the two I’ve missed!
